Superconducting charge-ordered states in cuprates

چکیده

Motivated by recent neutron scattering and scanning tunneling microscopy ~STM! experiments on cuprate superconductors, we discuss charge-ordered states, in particular with two-dimensional charge modulation patterns, coexisting with superconductivity. We extend previous studies of a large-N mean-field formulation of the t-J model. In addition to bond-centered superconducting stripe states at low doping, we find checkerboardmodulated superconducting states which are favorable in an intermediate doping interval. We also analyze the energy dependence of the Fourier component of the local density of states at the ordering wave vector for several possible modulation patterns, and compare with STM results.

Charge-ordered resonating valence bond states in doped cuprates

We study charge ordered d-wave resonating valence bond states sdRVBd in the doped cuprates, and estimate the energies of these states in a generalized t-J model by using a renormalized mean-field theory. The longrange Coulomb potential tends to modulate the charge density in favor of the charge ordered RVB state. The possible relevance to the recently observed 434 checkerboard patterns in tunne...

High-temperature charge density wave correlations in La1.875Ba0.125CuO4 without spin-charge locking.

Although all superconducting cuprates display charge-ordering tendencies, their low-temperature properties are distinct, impeding efforts to understand the phenomena within a single conceptual framework. While some systems exhibit stripes of charge and spin, with a locked periodicity, others host charge density waves (CDWs) without any obviously related spin order. Here we use resonant inelasti...

Nodal quasiparticles and antinodal charge ordering in Ca2-xNaxCuO2Cl2.

Understanding the role of competing states in the cuprates is essential for developing a theory for high-temperature superconductivity. We report angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy experiments which probe the 4a0 x 4a0 charge-ordered state discovered by scanning tunneling microscopy in the lightly doped cuprate superconductor Ca2-xNaxCuO2Cl2. Our measurements reveal a marked dichotomy be...

Spectral signatures of critical charge and spin fluctuations in cuprates

We discuss how Raman spectra of high temperature superconducting cuprates are affected by nearly-critical spin and charge collective modes, which are coupled to charge carriers near a stripe quantum critical point. We find that specific fingerprints of nearly-critical collective modes can be observed and that the selectivity of Raman spectroscopy in momentum space may be exploited to distinguis...

Charge stripes in cuprate superconductors: The middle way

Charge and spin stripe order is a type of electronic crystal observed in certain layered cuprates associated with high-temperature superconductivity. Quantum-disordered stripes could be relevant for understanding the superconductivity. Here I discuss recent experimental characterizations of the stripe-ordered state in La1.875Ba0.125CuO4, and compare them with properties of superconducting compo...
